It seems the cycle goes a little something like this – rappers want to be athletes and athletes want to be rappers. Very few succeed much less excel in one arena, let alone both. But don’t tell Stalley about defying the odds.

A native of football hotbed Massillon, Ohio he managed to score a basketball scholarship to Michigan. After an injury derailed that dream, he decided to throw down on this on this little thing called music and moved to New York to pursue his next dream: he’s already toured opening for Mos Def, was featured at the 2010 South by Southwest Festival and released a mixtape with fellow Ohio native Terry Urban. He’s currently working with GFCnewyork, most known for their involvement with Mickey Factz, to further his career. For his second mixtape, MadStalley: The Autobiography, he gives you his life story over re-imagined Madlib productions. The result is something fresh and has people saying they are glad the basketball thing didn’t work out.
