Pruning Radiohead’s ‘Lotus Flower’

by JA SOURCE YouTube

Radiohead's first single off of their new album, 'The King of Limbs' is a song titled 'Lotus Flower.'

The band released the first single simultaneously with their new album, 24 hours earlier than they originally announced.

The video below for 'Lotus Flower,' is shot in black-and-white, and the video features Thome Yorke flailing about.  One moment you feel like he is a blossoming lotus flower, the next moment he seems to be channeling his inner Marcel Marceau, doing a mime routine.

The choreography (and yes this was choreographed by Wayne McGregor) seems to move from Yorke having convulsions to seeming to be a marionette, where some invisible strings are pulling his arms and legs in different directions.

One thing is for sure, there is nothing like it.  It has a raw simplicity and the viewer is almost mesmerized by Yorke's movements as they are juxtaposed over Yorke’s introspective yet soaring vocals.  This is in stark contrast to the other big music video release the same week from Britney Spears, which is full of effects, cut screens, and product placement.

Take a look at the new video over on the left column.  Let us know what you think of the video and new song... Will we see Radiohead on the Billboard Hot 100 next week with 'Lotus Flower?'
