Name: Matthew Hofmann
Location: Coyote Canyon — Montecito, California
Size Approx 160 square feet
Years lived in: 6 months — owns the Airstream, rents the land

After seeing Matthew Hofmann’s Before and After makeover of his retro Airstream trailer, I jumped at the opportunity to photograph it for a full tour. A licensed architect, founder of HofArc, he was able to reconfigure the original bones of this space while refurbishing it, and restoring some of the original charm.

Name: David Handschuh & Megan Ross + Arrow the dog
Location: Bucktown — Chicago, Illinois
Size: 1,500 square feet
Years lived in: 1½ — rented

One of the things I love about shooting House Tours is seeing all the places people call home. From two flats to high rises, I’ve seen every kind of permutation of living quarters possible. Or, at least I thought so. David and Megan’s tour was my first time in a converted storefront space. And now, of course, I’m totally obsessed with the idea!

Name: Irene Capriz & Marcus Foley
Location: Hong Kong
Size: 3300 square feet — 1 bedroom
Type: Warehouse
Years lived in: 1

It's not often that you get to know a home before its inhabitants but this was the case a couple of weeks ago when we set off on our first house swapping adventure. With much anticipation we arrived in front of a rather unattractive, industrial building. We were anticipating a warehouse, but when people say they live in a warehouse they usually mean it was a warehouse or factory at some stage, this however was an actual working, vertical factory! The service elevator took us to the 20 something floor where we opened the doors to a different world - we found this delightful loft in the heart of Hong Kong.

Katherine, a stylist, is particular about how a space should look, and is very sensitive to her surroundings. So, it is with a very high tolerance, that Katherine managed to thrive during a marathon, three-year camping out situation in her kitchen and dining room while she renovated her home.
